Why "We Forgot Grandpa?" The True Story Behind Forgotten Cremated Remains

It may surprise you to learn that the inspiration for this awareness campaign comes from our real-world experience. Here at Rosewood, we’ve seen countless instances of cremated remains being left in the most bizarre places imaginable – not just closets, but the trunks of rental cars, storage units, even floating down the bayou!

Many people choose cremation because it’s less expensive than traditional funeral services. However, few think about what’s going to happen to the cremated remains, often called “ashes,” after the service. Grandma takes grandpa’s ashes home and then puts them on the mantle… well, what happens when grandma dies? Which of the kids is going to handle the cremated remains? This situation repeats itself down successive generations, creating a burden where there shouldn’t be one.

With “We Forgot Grandpa,” Rosewood is trying to remind people that you shouldn’t just assume that cremated remains will take care of themselves. We believe that everyone deserves a place of rest… and we’re helping to provide that to Houston area families, as we have since 1927.
